One day long ago in Glasgow Town, in 1931,
John Thomson was the goalie for, our famous Celtic sons,
On this sad day by accident, he died a sportsman true,
And Johnny Thomson from that day, your memory lives through.

He played for Celtic, and it's true, was loved by one and all,
He always played the game, my boys, and then we saw him fall,
And still men weep from that day on, for Johnny Thomson true,
In Celtic, son, your name lives on, for we are proud of you.

If you should come to Glasgow Town, to see a football game,
Just remember our late hero, John Thomson was his name,
He will go down in history, he was not one to fail,
In Celtic he brought glory, boys, his name we proudly hail.

If you should come to Glasgow Town, to see a football game,
