[Verse]
I'll tell a story of a volunteer who's gone,
Born in North Belfast, his name it was Seán,
Fearless soldier who chose to join the fight,
To save his people from the Brits and their strife.

[Chorus]
Seán McIlvenna,
North Armagh Brigade,
Seán McIlvenna,
The bravest of the brave.

[Verse]
At '72, he went on the run,
And daily harassment, he knew what must be done,
He remained active in Armagh and in Down,
Planning attacks against the British Crown.

[Chorus]
Seán McIlvenna,
North Armagh Brigade,
Seán McIlvenna,
The bravest of the brave.

[Verse]
In '84, a cold winter's morning,
A UDR ambush, it happened without warning,
As the bomb went off shots came towards the field,
Seán was shot and his fate it was sealed.

[Chorus]
Seán McIlvenna,
North Armagh Brigade,
Seán McIlvenna,
The bravest of the brave.

[Verse]
And to this day we remember you well,
Through song and in story, forever we will tell,
You fought for Ireland, freedom that you sought,
Your name and your memory will never be forgot.

[Chorus]
Seán McIlvenna,
North Armagh Brigade,
Seán McIlvenna,
The bravest of the brave.
