The Ballad Of Raymond McCreesh - Spirit Of Freedom

My name is Ray McCreesh, my story I will tell,
Sent me from a Diplock court, to a H-Block cell,
Tortured and beaten, my protest it began,
I'll wear no prison uniform, for I am prided man.

My hunger strike has started, for five demands,
Die here beside my friend, my comrade, Bobby Sands,
No fear for my life to end, inside these prison walls,
For I, Raymond McCreesh, have answered the call.

To my native town of Camlough, I bid a last farewell,
My life is nearly over as I lie here in my cell,
Friends and my family that I love dear,
In my final hours, I'll leave you with no fear.

My comrades in Long Kesh, bold and so brave,
Bobby Sands from Belfast, his young life he did pay,
Francis Hughes from Derry, he was the next to die,
And I, Raymond McCreesh, O'Hara by my side.

So farewell to my family, I bid you a fond farewell,
My young life is over, murdered in a cell,
England, your a monster, get out of my dear land,
And take your English border, my blood is on your hand,
And take your English border, my blood is on your hand.
