For 800 years now, the British have ruled us,
They're tortured and killed us, but they cannot see,
That we'll fight and we'll die for the Irish Republic,
That was laid down by Pearse and James Connolly.

For 60 long years now, our country's divided,
The people in the North, oh, they long to be free,
But we'll keep on the fight for the Irish Republic,
That was laid down by Pearse and James Connolly.

For 20 long years now, our people have suffered,
With live rounds and plastics our children are slain,
But we'll keep up the fight for the Irish Republic,
That was laid down by Pearse and James Connolly.

And lets not forget now our brave hunger strikers,
Who died so that Ireland may one day be free,
They lived and they died for the Irish Republic,
That was laid down by Pearse and James Connolly.

People of Ireland, never surrender,
Keep up the fight, let our enemies see,
That we laid down our lives for the Irish Republic,
That was laid down by Pearse and James Connolly,
That was laid down by Pearse and James Connolly.
