I awoke yesterday to find I had been crying,
The tears filled mey eyes as I lay on my bed,
I'd been dreaming of home far away in Dungannon,
I dreamt of my love and to her I had said.
"Oh, come lets walk my dear Anne, through the streets of Dungannon,
Linger for a while see the children at play,
Their not orange or green but the children of Ireland,
Not your race or my race but our race, my love."
"Oh, come, lets stroll hand in hand through the proud streets of Erin,
Where orange and green now in harmony dwell,
Turn out backs on the days when we both were divided,
Show this world that it is, as one people we stand."
Oh, my God, could it be that this dream was a vision,
That when I return to my home date of man,
The two races there will in peace stand united,
In the words of that dream I will say to my Anne.
"Oh, come lets walk my dear Anne, through the streets of Dungannon,
Linger for a while see the children at play,
Their not orange or green but the children of Ireland,
Not your race or my race but our race, my love.".
